Of all months, I think November can claim the prize for the best way to start off the month - the Feasts of All Saints and All Souls! This month we are called to pray particularly for the holy souls in purgatory. This is a super important practice - in fact, it's one of the works of mercy (pray for the living and the dead) - because those souls who are in purgatory cannot pray for themselves.
Here is a powerful prayer written by St Gertrude the Great. It is said that each time this prayer is devoutly said, 1000 souls are released from purgatory into Heaven:
Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen.
