October really is a month FULL of powerhouse saints. Many of my favorite saints have feast days during this month, which I would argue calls for lots of celebration and thanksgiving!
The St Thérèse Novena ends Day Nine with this sentence (speaking to St Thérèse)...
With all my heart I thank the most Holy Trinity for the wonderful blessings conferred on you, and upon the world through you.
As I was praying this in the chapel the other night, I stopped and reread that sentence at least twice. I realized that as Catholics, while we have this huge communion of saints whose writing we can draw from and for whose intercession we can ask, we seldom remember to thank God for the example these wonderful people and the gift that they truly are to us; it can be very easy to take all of them for granted. That being said, I encourage you this month to learn more about the saints, celebrate their feast days, ask them for help, and as you strive for sainthood in your own "little way", thank God for those saints who have lived before us.
